The scramble is on for diesel, while damaged refineries and tight fuel supplies keep prices elevated around the world.

Ships are ferrying almost as much crude oil out of the Strait of Hormuz as they were before the Iran war. But they are barely moving any barrels of the fuel the world needs most : diesel.

Spending is rising because prices are climbing and Americans are buying more stuff, despite long-running frustrations over inflation.

Expect stocks outside tech to struggle, earnings to expand more slowly and concern about credit risk to grow.
